Psychologists Appointments with Simon DuBois

Psychology appointments with Simon DuBios are made by ringing reception at North Coast Medical Centre, Byron Bay (see Contact page).

Psychologist Appointments can be made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 5pm.

Appointment Cancellations

Cancellations need to be made 24 to 48hrs in advance. Wait lists are often long for psychologists. Cancelling your appointment as soon as possible makes it more likely that another person in need can take your place. If you do not cancel an appointment within 24hrs a fee is incurred of $40. This nominal fee covers some of the costs I incur with a late cancellation.

Psychologist Fees

The Australian Psychological Society, our professional association, recommends a fee of  $218 for a 45 to 50 minute session.

To make counselling affordable to my local community I have the following fee structure:

• $115 per 50 minute session.
• Bulk billing for people holding a healthcare card or those that state they cannot afford access to counselling if a cost is incurred.

Psychology Services Rebates

Medicare currently offer a rebate on certain psychology services through a GP mental Health Referral. Consult your GP or access the Medicare Australia website for more information.

At the time of writing the rebate available for seeing a registered psychologist is $81.60. This mean, if you pay $115 to see me with a GP Mental Health Referral you will get $81.60 back for a maximum of 12 sessions. If your session is bulk billed (which  requires the GP mental health referral) I get directly paid $81.60 from Medicare and you do not incur a cost. This is also for a maximum of 12 sessions.

Psychologist Fee Support – WorkCover, Veterans Affairs, Private Insurers

WorkCover, Veterans Affairs or your private insurer may cover psychology fees.  Please consult with these organisations to determine your entitlement. I am a registered psychology provider with Medicare, WorkCover, private insurers and Veterans Affairs.

Psychologist Report Writing

Report writing is charged at a rate of $220 an hour.
